Lehmann Tulip is a small perennial herb, with bulbs
1.5-5 x 2-5 cm, spherical, ovoid, runner-forming; tunics enclosing
layer of long hairs. Stem is 20-50 cm long, hairless. Leaves are 3-4,
hairless, decreasing in size, 3-16 x 0.2-2.0 cm, stalkless, linear,
lanceshaped, marign wavy, tip pointed. Flowers are borne singly, tepals
2.5-7.0 cm long, yellow, orange or red, basal dark violet or blackish
violet blotch commonly on the inner face; outer segments elliptic
tapering, inner obovate abruptly tapering. Filaments are 6-8 mm,
hairless, anthers 6-8 mm. Ovary is about 8.0 x 2.5 mm, ovoid-oblong;
style absent. Stigma is about 2.0 mm broad. Capsule is 2.5-3.5 x
1.5-2.0 cm, oblong, splitting margin with short erect hairs. Flowering:
